Overall
From The School
WAUSM has designed an integrated curriculum that is delivered through active, supported learning that allows students to become self-taught learners capable of continually updating their expertise over time.
Our Preclerkship Curriculum is designed to build a solid foundation in the basic sciences and position students for success. With a focus on active, self-directed learning; robust simulation; and early exposure to clinical patients, students are immersed in an integrated learning experience with individualized support.
The Clerkship Curriculum comprises the last two years of the MD Program. Students' clinical rotations take place at our partner hospitals in the US and give them the opportunity to shadow physicians and residents, have direct access to patients, and gain valuable hands-on experience.
In year three, students receive broad exposure to the major medical disciplines designed to help them become active participants in providing patient care. Our tracked Clerkship program allows students to complete all six core rotations at one location in their third year of medical school.
In year four, students work with faculty to complete elective rotations in targeted subspecialty areas based on their goals and prepare to begin applying for residency.
At WAUSM, student support is baked into the DNA of our program. Our Center for Academic Success matches students with an academic success partner who provides guidance and support throughout their medical school journey.

WAUSM's inspiring students hail from several different US states, Canada, and The Bahamas and are a true reflection of the University's commitment to diversity, as greater than half are categorized as underrepresented in medicine.
A close-knit community of learners, WAUSM's student body shares a sense of purpose as they work toward their common goal of becoming MDs. WAUSM's exceptionally low student-to-faculty ratio allows students to cultivate close relationships with faculty and classmates, which begins with Welcome Week and the pairing of students with academic success partners who personally guide students throughout their medical school journey.
