'Ted Lasso' season 4 rumored to start filming in London in early 2025

Ted Lasso [Apple TV+]

The rumored fourth season of the Apple TV+ sports comedy "Ted Lasso" will allegedly start production in early 2025, but it's still unclear if the star of the show will be involved.

Rumors about the supposed fourth season of the Apple TV+ hit show Ted Lasso have previously given hope to fans about its existence. It now appears that the show will start pre-production within months.

According to sources of Sigmund Judge, the fourth season will begin pre-production in January. Shoots for the show will start in London from early 2025, the X post continues.

As for when fans could expect to see the season, it is said to be returning sometime in 2025. Considering filming would take place early in the year if the rumor is true, this seems like a plausible editing and release schedule.

However, it is unknown whether Jason Sudeikis will be involved. The star, who played the titular figure, intended it to be a three-season show, and didn't previously entertain the idea of a fourth season at all.

In commenting on Sudeikis, Judge offers that it will be known if he is involved "soon enough." However, he adds that it is certain that it is for a fourth season and not a spin-off show.

Previous reports claim that Warner Bros. has picked up options for actors playing key roles in the show in August. The list included Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, with Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt expected to be reached out to at a later time.

In June 2023, Hunt recounted a conversation with Tim Cook, revealing that the Apple CEO hoped a fourth season would take place.

Annette Badland was interviewed recently on a podcast and said she was certainly open to the idea of continuing, but at the time of the interview she said she hadn’t (yet) been approached. I hope they will continue her character.

Please no. The story reached a good end. Don’t kill its legacy with a mindless feast of the goodwill from the carcass.

Here is a thought. Instead of ending up looking like a one trick pony, perhaps ATV+ should be trying to come up with great new original shows with complete, defined story arcs?

I really enjoyed Ted Lasso but I thought it went steadily downhill in terms of script etc.  If the Season 1 had the overall quality of Season 3, it wouldn't have been the hit it was.

Obviously, Sudeikis and Hunt won't have major roles or it wouldn't be possible to risk reaching out "at a later date."  It sounds like they have those two in mind for roles where they can literally phone it in.  (Sudeikis will have some FaceTime calls from the US., etc.)

Obviously, it's a lot harder to come up with a new hit than to crank out another season of a successful show but that's what Apple needs to do.  And release the already completed next season of Tehran.  Tehran is apparently being held due to the Israel / Hamas conflict and if true, that really raises the question of what the hell is going on in that season that they felt the need to do that.  I'm sure curious.

We won!

I really hope it's good though. Season 3 was not as great as the first two seasons.

Huh? They are. Not a one-trick pony whatsoever. There are so many now it's not even worth listing them for you, pick a genre and take your pick.

There's a reason we ditched Netflix and its "all you can eat buffet of crap" model, before ATV+.
