Career Experience
I have a bachelor's degree in English with a special concentration in writing, but my first job was in the food service industry. This job carried me through high school, college, and the pandemic. It was there that I learned confidence in working with and speaking to others, as well as developing my work ethic of always giving my best. From there, I obtained a job as a first-grade teacher in a classical school. There, I learned just as much, if not more, than my students! I found that I have a deep passion for helping others, not only to learn academically, but also to have confidence in themselves through the development of their skills such as reading, writing, and math.
I Love Tutoring Because
I love the tutoring model of teaching because it gives the student the teacher's undivided attention, so we can both really dive into whatever they need help with individually. It also helps me, as the tutor/teacher, to get to know the students better. As a former first-grade teacher, my favorite part of the day was when I was able to work one-on-one with my students on their reading. We would sit down together with a book, and I would have them read to me as I guided them through the words and answered their questions along the way. The little conversations I had with my kids while helping them to read were so special to me. I came to know my kids and what they struggled with individually, which made their victories--big and small--all the sweeter. As a tutor, I look forward to helping all students achieve their own victories.
