Academics

Located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Salisbury University is a public school with a "stellar reputation [of] various programs and challenging courses." Of those options, undergrads make particular note of an "amazing nursing program," an "impressive business school," and "health science programs [that] are pretty great." Some also boast about an education program with a great track record. Students are also pleased with the small class sizes this mid-size school features, finding that "most professors take the time to really get to know their students over the semesters." One student concurs: "The faculty is amazing. I haven't had a professor that doesn't truly care about [my] education." Praise for the staff doesn't stop there: "The faculty and staff take time to understand the demands put on the students," adds another. To further help with those demands, SU also provides "everything a student needs to succeed, be that academic help, support systems, clubs, sports, anything; the university provides them all."

Student Body

Salisbury undergrads are thankful to have a community of "friendly and inclusive peers." "Nobody ever really feels alone," one student states; they're enveloped in a group that is "academically driven and focused," which cultivates a cooperative environment. "I feel as though I am surrounded by others who push me to better myself, instead of focusing only on bettering themselves," says another student. While many note that diversity might be lacking, most agree that "the school provides many multicultural related resources, clubs, [and] presentations, so [minorities] still feel very comfortable and involved." One Salisbury Sea Gull sums it up: "There's a place for everyone."

Campus Life

Students at Salisbury are "very studious during the week," and a lot of time is spent at the "huge brand new library and study area...where there are coffee shops [and] food." A particular strength of that new library that many note are the "student aid resources provided, such as the Center for Student Achievement, the Writing Center, and [Supplemental Instruction] meetings." One undergrad elaborates, "The campus community works really hard to make...different opportunities available to us free of extra fees. So it gives us students a variety of options of how to study and learn." That variety also extends to extracurriculars: "Students are encouraged to join clubs and participate in some of the abundant activities offered on campus in order to create a more active student body." So while studies tend to come first at SU, undergrads are also "focused on fun" and "try to enjoy their college life while they are here." Popular activities on and off campus include "playing music in the Red Square, attending school events,...enjoying food at the Commons or at the Chick-Fil-A, [and] playing ping pong or pool." On the weekends, "since Salisbury is right next to Ocean City, many will take trips to the beach."
