Gaining admission to medical school, and then choosing which one to attend, is no easy feat. If you’re set on becoming a doctor, expanding your search to international programs is a savvy move.  At a school like American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, you’ll have access to advanced technology, unique programs, special scholarships, and an environment filled with opportunities.

How can international students be assured they will be able to practice successfully in their home countries?

As a student at AUC, your journey to becoming a physician will begin at either our campus location in Sint Maarten or site in Preston, UK. Both locations provide collegial  environments that emphasize collaboration, wellness, and community. You’ll work closely with local med school faculty and your peers as you engage in concentrated study of the medical sciences over five semesters.

AUC’s curriculum is designed to help you become an adaptive expert, one who has a mastery of medical concepts and the capacity to use this knowledge to guide diagnosis and treatment of patients. To meet this goal, AUC mandates that all students gain clinical exposure early in their tenure. This exposure increases every semester and ultimately becomes the emphasis of your fifth semester.

Additionally, during your time here, you’ll leverage advanced technology to enhance your medical school experience, enjoying access to our high-tech simulation centers, anatomy labs, and more.

What are some unique programs American University of the Caribbean Med offers its students?

The Global Health elective is a six-week immersive clerkship that sends medical students and residents to clinical teaching sites around the world. The program was established to facilitate a deeper understanding of healthcare and to provide improved patient care through the exchange of practices and ideas.

AUC students can participate in the elective provided they meet certain eligibility requirements. The program has clinical affiliations in seven different countries, including the Dominican Republic, Russia, Uganda, Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, and Zimbabwe, with each site offering the unique ability to access different medical systems, environments, patient populations, diseases, and health practices.
